PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress moisture return at the time of switching from a cooling cycle operation to a dehumidifying cycle operation by suppressing a high-humidity state in the cooling cycle operation. SOLUTION: In the control method of an air conditioner capable of performing reheat dehumidification of starting, at operation start in a dehumidifying mode selected, the cooling cycle operation and then performing transfer to the dehumidifying cycle operation, the rotating speed of a compressor is controlled based on an indoor temperature and a set temperature in order to make the indoor temperature close to the set temperature during the cooling cycle operation, and when the indoor temperature gets close to the set temperature, the rotating speed of the compressor is controlled based on an indoor humidity and a set humidity in order to make the indoor humidity close to the set humidity.
