LENS PROTECTING APPARATUS FOR A CAMERA OF THE CELLULAR PHONE

A lens protecting device for a camera of a portable phone is provided to reduce an entire volume and a weight due to using a coil and a magnet whose volume and weight are relatively small and light in automatically opening or closing the lens protecting device. A lens protecting device for a camera of a portable phone comprises a base(110), a coil(120), a lens cover(140) and a magnet(130). The base(110) mounts components of the lens protecting device, and includes an opening hole(111) via which a lens of the camera is exposed. The coil(120), fixed to the base(110), receives an electric current. The lens cover(140) is installed at the base(110) such that the lens cover(120) opens or closes the opening hole(111) by a revolving operation. The magnet(130) is installed at the lens cover(140) such that a magnetic field is formed around the coil(120). The magnet(130) is driven by an electromagnetic force which is formed by the current and the magnetic field. The lens cover(140) opens or closes the opening hole(111) by the driven magnet(130).
