<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a print preparation time and reduce waste paper at the start of printing by automatically executing switching to an ink carrying passage, prior to start of printing, allowing ink to be supplied to each inking roller at an appropriate ink supply ratio, corresponding to a print pattern condition, with a production of high quality printed matters all the time. <P>SOLUTION: The ink device in a printer is equipped with an ink distributing roller 4e which supplies the ink stored in an ink fountain 1 to a printing plate via the ink carrying passage consisting of a plurality of ink rollers and moves to a first and second positions to switch the ink carrying passage to the first ink carrying passage and the second ink carrying passage. The device is also equipped with a controller 30 which obtains a pattern area ratio or a pattern area in a plurality of ranges of laterally divided patterns to be printed and the difference between the pattern area ratio or the pattern area in adjacent ranges, and compares the difference between the pattern area ratio and the pattern area with a first reference value for switching the ink carrying passage and moves the ink distributing roller 4e to the first or the second position based on the compared result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
