<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collision detector for a vehicle capable of preventing erroneous detection caused by a disconnection trouble of a wire in an electrostatic capacitance type sensor part by simple constitution to detect surely the occurrence of collision. <P>SOLUTION: A distance between counter electrodes 12 is contracted tentatively in the sensor part 11 to increase an electrostatic capacitance, when a pedestrian collides with a vehicular bumper, so as to shift a resonance frequency in an LC series resonance circuit to a lower side. The sensor part 11 is blocked from a driving circuit 16, when the disconnection trouble occurs in the wire 14 for connecting a side member side electrode 12b of the sensor part 11 to the driving circuit 16, and the capacitance is reduced in the LC series resonance circuit to shift the resonance frequency to a higher side. A situation of a voltage change in a connection point 16d between the driving circuit 16 and the wire 14 when the collision occurs is thereby different from that in the disconnection trouble of the wire 14, and those are discriminated easily based on voltage detection values. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
