PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of an imaging apparatus capable of simply preventing an improper loading state from being consecutive for a long time even when an interchangeable lens designed for another imaging apparatus of an exposure face size different from an imaging element of a camera body is loaded to the imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: When the interchangeable lens corresponding to an image face of a size smaller than that of the imaging face of the imaging element mounted on a camera body (camera body) is loaded, an imaging system forcibly sets a mode to an after-view mode (step ST4). When the after-view mode is set after photographing, an after-view display is made on a rear side monitor of the camera body (step ST7). Since an image photographed in a state of improper interchangeable lens loading, that is, an image caused with vignetting is displayed on the rear side monitor, a user can recognize the loading of the improper interchangeable lens in an earlier stage and can simply prevent the improper state from being consecutive for a long time.
