The assembly for re-centering a fan shaft (2) consists of an annular support (4) round the shaft and a bearing (5) fixed to it, the inner ring (9) of which is set with a clearance (J) from the shaft. The ring (9) has two side vanes (14a, 14b) normally held in the periphery of two cupels (16a, 16b) on the shaft. Two rows of balls (28a, 28b) are normally held between recesses (25, 26) in the cupels and inner ring, with a spring (20) urging the cupels together. In the event of the vanes breaking the balls (28a, 28b) roll along the walls of the recesses and hold the cupels apart to re-centre the shaft relative to the inner ring. |
