PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for assembling a carriage assembly, in which the deformation of a spacer part is suppressed when a suspension is attached to a carriage arm. SOLUTION: In the method for assembling a carriage assembly, a fitting hole 10a formed in the tip of a carriage arm 10 is aligned with a spacer hole 12b formed in the spacer part 12a of a suspension 12 to fix the suspension 12 to the carriage arm 10, a ball 20 having a diameter equal to or larger than the inner diameter of the spacer hole 12b is pressed by a pressing member 40 to pass through the spacer hole 12b, and the peripheral edge of the spacer hole 12b of the spacer part 12a is caulked to fix the suspension 12 to the tip of the carriage arm 10, wherein ultrasonic vibration is applied to the pressing member 40 from a biaxial direction to vibrate the pressing member 40 in a 2-dimensional motion track, and the ball 20 is automatically rotated to pass through the spacer hole 12b.
