PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method by which a user can execute a cleaning to a specified color even when an ink residual amount of another color is not sufficient. SOLUTION: When the user orders the cleaning, a measurement of the ink residual amount is performed, and the ink residual amount is compared with an ink consumption amount by the cleaning, and the shortage of the ink residual amount is displayed by a means which displays the ink residual amount shortage to the user. The user can select the continuation or the interruption by a means which continues or interrupts the cleaning, and when the cleaning is continued, the cleaning is executed only for a part of colors by using a means which does not clean specified colors.
