PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-processing method which integrates contour information in clip-art images and generates vector data, in which data quantity is suitably reduced, while keeping the image quality, and to provide an image-processing device. SOLUTION: An inputting part 11 inputs document images including clip art images, and a clip art image-selecting part 13 selects the clip-art images. Then, an edge-detecting part 14 extracts edge information from the clip-art images, and an edge cluster-forming part 15 forms a plurality of edge clusters based on the edge information. An area-dividing part 16 divides pixel parts, other than the edge clusters in the clip art images into a plurality of clusters based on color characteristics, and an area-integrating part 17 integrates two or more similar clusters among the clusters, other than the edge clusters. Then, a vectorization part 22 converts the respective clusters, whose areas have already been integrated, into vector data based on contour lines and inner part colors. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
