PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a driving force only in a forward rotative direction is transmitted to a fixing mechanism from a reversibly rotatable driving source by an inexpensive configuration of high reliability in life. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus forms an image by driving at least a part of an image forming mechanism and the fixing mechanism by the driving force from the reversibly rotatable driving source, wherein the driving force is transmitted from the driving source to the fixing mechanism only during forward rotation and is cut off during reverse rotation.
