PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain coated paper for printing use high in white paper gloss, excellent in printed paper surface feeling with good ink dryability and good in operability, and also free of developing wrinkles under heating by a rotary printing machine's drum. SOLUTION: The coated paper for printing use is obtained by the following process: The surface of base paper is furnished with one or more coating layers based on a pigment and an adhesive, the surface of the coating layer(s) is furnished with a surface layer based on a component selected from the group consisting of plastic pigment, surface sizing agent and mixture thereof, and the surface layer is subjected to spray coating. In the coated paper, it is preferable that the average particle size of the plastic pigment be smaller than 200 nm, the surface sizing agent be selected from at least one of styrene-acrylic, olefin-based and styrene-maleic acid-based copolymers, and the pickup of the surface layer resulting from the spray coating be 0.1-3.0 g/m<SP>2</SP>per side.
