PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-propelled vacuum cleaner capable of retaining a fixed distance between a moving detecting device and a floor face and highly precisely detecting the moving distance. SOLUTION: The moving detecting device 31 comprises an optical moving detecting sensor 32 and a box-shaped casing 34 storing the moving detecting sensor. The casing 24 is slidably supported to a cleaner body via extensible/contractible energizing members 33. When the cleaner body 10 is inclined, one energizing member 33 is contracted to make a flange 34a approach to the bottom side of the cleaner body and the other energizing member is extended to make a flange 34a approach to the upper face side of a recess part 71. The moving detecting device 31 is thus pushed toward the floor face, and the bottom face of the casing 34 comes into contact with the floor face. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
