PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a locking mechanism for breeding cage of an ape comprising simple structure without complicating the mechanism of the locking, locking and unlocking with a simple operating procedure, free from unlocked by the ape. SOLUTION: The ape breeding cage 1 with locking mechanism comprises a cage body 10 with grate structure having an opening 11 for accomodating the ape, a door member 2 opening and closing the opening 11 of the cage body 10, a bar member 41 vertically slidable from a lower limit position constraining the door member 2 in a closed sate to a upper limit position capable of opening and closing the door member 2, and a swinging stopper 43 swinging to an interfering rotating angel position by its own weight to constrain the door 41 on its lower limit position.
