PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a human-type ceramide in a yeast cell. SOLUTION: The method for producing the ceramide comprises (1) introducing sphingoid▵4-desaturase gene (DES1) by transformation of the yeast cell, and (2) deleting the expression of yeast sphinganine C4-hydroxylase gene (SUR2) by the transformation of the yeast cell.
