<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device whose operational specification required to be individually adjusted in a factory can be changed on the market, and an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A control means 12 controls the copying speed of an original based on a control parameter, and a non-volatile memory 15 previously stores a set value for 20CPM (20 sheets/minute) as the value of the control parameter. When authority as a 25CPM machine is authenticated by inserting a chip 9 and the set value for 25CPM obtained from the chip 9 is overwritten on the non-volatile memory 15 so as to switch the value of the control parameter to which the control means 12 refers, the device acts as a 25CPM machine thereafter. When it is a parameter required to be individually adjusted in accordance with the individual difference of the device, the set value for 25CPM is derived from the set value for 20CPM already adjusted, whereby the adjusting amount corresponding to the individual difference is reflected in the set value for 25CPM. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
