PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for a transmission capable of restraining a sense of incongruity of a driver by reducing a frequency of execution of specific action in the controller for the transmission for controlling the specific action of the transmission such as shifting or turning on/off action of a lock-up clutch set in advance based on an accelerator opening. SOLUTION: This controller for the transmission for controlling the specific action of the transmission set in advance based on the accelerator opening is provided with a road information detecting and estimating means for detecting or estimating information on a road in front of a vehicle, a means for estimating a variation amount of driving force required for the vehicle to pass the road in front of the vehicle based on the information on the road in front of the vehicle, and a control means for making the specific action more difficult to be executed (step S70) compared to the case where the variation amount of the driving force exceeds the predetermined value (step S60-N) when the variation amount of the driving force is equal to or less than the predetermined value (step S60-Y).
