PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network configuration method capable of improving communication efficiency of a network configured when a multi-hop network is automatically configured. SOLUTION: Each terminal has a function of setting route retrieval start time, the relatively closer to a center terminal a terminal is in distance, the earlier start time is set in the terminal to thereby enable the terminal being relatively closer to the center terminal to start route retrieval at earlier timing. Thus, when a certain terminal performs route retrieval, all terminals existing between the terminal and the center terminal have completed route retrieval, and terminals which are more distant from the center terminal than the terminal have not completed route retrieval so that an answer can not be given to a route retrieval request from the terminal. Consequently, it is possible to prevent the backward movement on a communication route and prevent the situation in which an optimum route can not be detected because there is a terminal whose route retrieval is not completed at the center terminal side.
