PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor and an image processing method, in which the change of a hue due to reduction of the amount of a color material is reduced as much as possible and the quality of formed images is high by reducing the color material of light black when limiting the total amount of the plurality of color materials including the color material of light black and the color material of dark black. SOLUTION: For the image processor and the image processing method, the image processor having a total amount limiting means for performing the processing of limiting the total amount of the plurality of color materials including the color material of light black and the color material of dark black comprises: a total amount determining means for determining whether or not the total amount of the plurality of color materials exceeds a prescribed total amount value; and a light black reducing means for reducing the amount of the color material of light black when the total amount determining means determines that the total amount of the plurality of color materials exceeds the prescribed total amount value.
