PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a toner capable of stably manufacturing the toner having desired characteristics in a melt emulsification method of obtaining the toner by dispersing a resin kneaded material in an aqueous medium and granulating the mixture. SOLUTION: The mixture obtained by mixing the resin kneaded material obtained by kneading at least a binder resin and a colorant, a dispersant and an aqueous medium containing water, then agitating the resultant mixture by using an agitation apparatus 1 equipped with a screen 4 formed with a mixture ejection hole 9 on the inner side of a container 2 and a rotor 5 in an agitation space 3a formed by the screen 4. As a result, shearing force and collision force can be generated at the time the mixture is ejected from the mixture ejection hole 9 and therefore, the heating temperature of the aqueous medium by a heater 13 can be lowered without degrading the granulatability of the resin kneaded material. Thereby, the dispersion state and composition of the colorant etc., included in the resin kneaded material during the granulation can be prevented from changing and the toner having the desired characteristics can be stably manufactured.
