PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welding method capable of preventing weld cracks or the deterioration of mechanical characteristics in a narrow gap welding by a simple means. SOLUTION: In this welding method, a base metal is welded while providing the vibration of the frequency of excitation smaller than the natural frequency of a molten pool formed in the base metal in the welding performed under a predetermined condition, preferably the vibration of the frequency of≤20 Hz, still preferably, the vibration of the frequency of 1-5 Hz to the base metal by a device for generating the mechanical vibration such as an eccentric motor.
