Substituted hydrocarbyl functional siloxanes-silicone resin

Sunscreen compositions containing a hydrocarbyl functional organopolysiloxane are disclosed. The hydrocarbyl functional organopolysiloxane contains at least one siloxy unit of the formula -R²OCH₂CH₂OH, where R² is a divalent hydrocarbon group containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms. The inclusion of the hydrocarbyl functional organopolysiloxane in the sunscreen composition improves the sun-protection factor (SPF) of the sunscreen component and various personal, medical and household care compositions containing the sunscreen composition.
