<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for a secondary battery capable of obtaining a more accurate battery temperature compared with a conventional method by computing, to provide a secondary battery temperature estimation method, and to provide a deterioration determination method of the secondary battery using the method. <P>SOLUTION: In the estimation of the temperature of a secondary battery, a heating value caused by the Joule heat of the secondary battery is calculated, the heating value caused by the heat of the chemical reaction of the secondary battery is calculated, and the battery temperature of the secondary battery is calculated based on the calculated heating value caused by the Joule heat and the calculated heating value caused by the heat of the chemical reaction.
