PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support method and a driving support device for performing driving support in accordance with road conditions. SOLUTION: The driving support device 10 comprises a geographical data storage section 20 storing geographical data, a display 25, a speaker 26, and a CPU 11. The CPU 11 detects a step causing vehicle vibration in a road ahead in the traveling direction of the vehicle on the basis of road data, searches for a route avoiding the detected step, and outputs guidance concerning the avoidance route searched for to the display 25 and the speaker 26.
