PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid container capable of detecting the residual quantity of a liquid reaching a predetermined value. SOLUTION: The liquid container 1 is equipped with an ink detection element 11 which intervenes between an ink pack 7 and an ink supply port 9. The ink detection element 11 is equipped with a sensor room 21 equipped with an ink inlet 11a connected to the ink pack 7 and an ink outlet 11b connected to the ink supply port 9, a pressure-receiving plate 27 held movably in responding to the quantity of the ink stored in the sensor room 21, a recess 27a formed in the pressure-receiving plate 27 so that a detection space may be dividedly formed in cooperation with an ink guiding passage 33 provided in the sensor room 21 if the quantity of the ink stored in the sensor room 21 gets below the predetermined one and a piezoelectric-type sensor 35 for impressing a vibration to the ink guiding passage 33 and detecting a free oscillation state accompanied with the impressed vibration.
