PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid storing container adopting an analog residual quantity detecting means which is conventionally impossible to realize, by directly analogically measuring a level of ink by a simple constitution for detection of an ink residual quantity in an ink tank, and to provide a method for detecting the liquid residual quantity of the liquid storing container. SOLUTION: The constitution is adopted which utilizes a shape memory alloy wire and a plurality of electrodes connected to the wire. The presence or absence of electric conduction between the electrodes is detected, and the level in a liquid storing chamber is obtained, so that the level of liquid in the liquid storing chamber is directly and analogically measured.
