PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a power saving mode using a memory voltage monitor circuit by operating it only during the reset input period where the supply voltage is lower than its operating voltage. SOLUTION: This semiconductor device has a memory voltage monitor circuit 2 which monitors the supply voltage VDD, and outputs a low voltage detection signal SL when it is lower than the memory content sustaining voltage V1; a low voltage detection signal holding circuit 3 to hold the low voltage detection signal SL from the memory voltage monitor circuit 2; and a reset circuit 4 to input the reset signal R1 from the outside to generate a reset signal R2 and to output it to the memory voltage monitor circuit 2 as an operation enabling signal.
