PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recording device which can adequately reduce a concentration of ink by itself without re-binarization of image data by an outside device when the type of medium estimated in binarization of the image data binarized by the outside device, is different from the type of medium set in the recording device. SOLUTION: According to the ink-jet recording device, the binarized image data input from the outside is calculated in terms of an ink ejection amount for each color per unit area. Then the calculated ink ejection amount of each color per unit area is compared with an ink ejection amount limit value for the employed type of medium. As a result of the comparison, the binary image data whose concentration is in excess of the ink ejection amount limit value, is reduced in concentration so as not to be in excess of the limit value. To reduce the concentration, one or a plurality of differential mask patterns out of a plurality of differential mask patterns prepared beforehand are employed in combination.
