PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector with a simple structure and a low cost wherein a ground plate does not come out from the connector backward when fitted with a counterpart connector. SOLUTION: Each ground contact 64a is extended from a connecting part 64b of the ground plate 64. A shell 65 has a bend part 65a bent from outside (left of the figure) to inside of a fitting part 62a of housing 62 on a fitting side with the counterpart connector (left side of the figure). A protection part 65b is provided in a tip part of the bend part. A tip part 64a1 of each ground contact enters a protection part. The tip part and the protection part of the shell are overlapped. Therefore, although the tip part of each ground contact is pushed below the each ground contact of the counterpart connector when the connector 61 is fitted with the counterpart connector, the ground plate is prevented from coming out from the connector backward (right of the figure).
