PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vehicle that has a step-up converter that increases the supply voltage for a running motor and is capable of running with high fuel efficiency through selection by a user. SOLUTION: The electric vehicle 1 includes: a direct-current power supply 10; a step-up converter 20 that increases the output voltage of the direct-current power supply 10 by switching of a switching element; and the running motor 40 drive-controlled according to the output voltage of the step-up converter 20. The electric vehicle 1 is further provided with a fuel efficiency switch 50 that accepts an instruction to run with a high fuel efficiency from a user; and a controller 60 that, when an instruction to run with a high fuel efficiency is accepted by the fuel efficiency switch 50, stops the step-up operation of the step-up converter 20.
