Embodiments discussed in this disclosure provide for determining the presence of a user on a first client device. Embodiments of a method include receiving data related to instant messaging activity of the user, storing the data related to the instant messaging activity of the user, and creating at least one data log, the at least one data log including data related to the instant messaging activity of the user.
