<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purifier for an internal combustion engine exhibiting the function of a catalyst without lowering the function of ozone, even when oxidizing and removing PM with ozone. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust gas purifier for an internal combustion engine is a wall flow-type particulate filter (30) collecting particulate matter contained in an exhaust gas in an exhaust passage. A catalyst (38) is carried only on the downstream side of the exhaust gas in a partition wall (37) of the particulate filter. Thus, when supplying ozone, ozone is introduced into the upstream side of the partition wall (37) on which PM is collected, and ozone does not come into contact with the catalyst carried only on the downstream side of the exhaust gas in the partition wall, whereby the decomposition of ozone is prevented to exhibit a PM oxidation function. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
