PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ordinary temperature molten salt in high purity, especially containing little halogen ions and provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: In the ordinary temperature molten salt, polymerizability of polymerizable functional groups in a salt monomer comprising an onium cation having a polymerizable functional group and an organic anion having a polymerizable functional group is eliminated. The method for producing the ordinary temperature molten salt includes a process in which an organic compound containing no polymerizable functional group is additionally reacted with the polymerizable functional groups of the salt monomer comprising the onium cation having the polymerizable functional group and the organic anion having the polymerizable functional group.
