PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method for extending the life of each print head. SOLUTION: A multi-color printing equipment having a plurality of print heads comprises a means for mounting an NVRAM such as an EEPROM or the like on the print head to store in the NVRAM the use frequency information of each color nozzle array of the print head, a means for reading the use frequency information and notifying an operator of the fact of judgement that any use frequency attains a threshold value, a means for enabling execution of rotation of the print head with another print head when the use frequency information attains the threshold value, a means for exchanging the print head with a print head lowest in the use frequency when executing the rotation of the print head which attains the threshold value, and a means for notifying the operator to execute the rotation when a plurality of print heads which attain the threshold value exist and the positions of the nozzle arrays of each print head which actually attains to the threshold value are different with each other.
