PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify data transmission and shorten the transmission time of the transmission of large amounts of data. SOLUTION: This data transmitter between an image source 1 and an image reproduction system 3 is configured to perform data transmission between the image source and the image reproduction system, where digital R (red), G (green) and B (blue), and video signals (R, G, B) can be supplied via R, G, and B line pairs 7, 8, and 9 from the image source 1 to the image reproduction system 3, and a communication (SDA) can be supplied. The image source 1 is provided with a communication operation mode instructing means 13 for instructing the next communication operation mode via the communication signal SDA, that is, a communication operation mode for performing data transmission via at least one line pair of the R, G, B line pairs 7, 8, 9 to the image reproducing system 3, and the image reproducing system 3 is provided with data switching units 14 and 15.
