PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller of a scanning apparatus including a vertical compensation circuit. SOLUTION: A controller 300 of a scanning apparatus includes a horizontal compensation circuit 3012 and a vertical compensation circuit 3011. The horizontal compensation circuit performs horizontal compensation computations of each scan line with a shading compensation gain and offset value and the vertical compensation circuit performs vertical compensation computations on a plurality of scan lines, thereby compensating image data in the vertical-axis direction.
