PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal plane shutter for a digital camera which is constituted so that a finishing stage of the opening operation of a shutter blade and a finishing stage of the closing operation thereof can be both detected and whose constitution is extremely suitable in terms of manufacture. SOLUTION: A driving member 9 has a pressing pin 9d in addition to a driving pin 9c coupled with an arm 13 in order to operate to open/close the shutter blade. A switching mechanism is constituted of three fixed contact shafts 4 to 6 and a switching spring 7 wound round the fixed contact shaft 4, and both ends 7a and 7b of the switching spring 7 have tendency to contact with the fixed contact shafts 5 and 6. A switching operation member 11, which is constituted so that either of two parts to be pressed 11a and 11b may be pressed by the pressing pin 9d and its operation part 11c may press either of both ends 7a and 7b according to the rotating direction of the driving member 9 in the finishing stage of the rotation, generates an off-signal.
