PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized low-cost position detection device with its circuit simplified and without the need for adding hardware for offset correction, and to provide an offset correction method therefor. SOLUTION: An A-phase signal and a B-phase signal, outputted from the position detector 2 mounted on a motor 1, are converted into digital values by means of A/D converters 3 and 4, and outputted to an offset correction value operation part 7 and to subtracters 8 and 9. The subtracters 8 and 9 subtract an offset value from the A-phase signal digital value and the B-phase signal digital value to output results thereof to an interpolation position data operation part 5. A position data operation part 6 operates position data from interpolation position data. The operation part 7 operates the offset value by integrating the A-phase and B-phase signal digital values corresponding to one cycle in terms of interpolation position data, outputting the offset value to the subtracters 7 and 8.
