PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method for stably placing a granular or/and massive calcium-containing substance under water. SOLUTION: A material mainly composed of a granular or/and massive calcium-containing substance is put in a water permeable container, which is then placed in the sea water or fresh-water-mixed sea water to cause a shelllike film to grow on the surface of the material, the shelllike film being mainly composed of a deposit made of magnesium hydroxide or deposit made of magnesium hydroxide and calcium hydroxide. Preferably, following the growth of the shelllike film on the surface of the material in the container, at least the main portion of the container is caused to disappear due to composition or/and corrosion. Since the material in the container is covered with the shelllike film, the material can be placed stably under the water without allowing the material to flow out due to waves.
