PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal fixing unit which can limit the area for the water vapor to adhere on the pressure roller surface. SOLUTION: A thermal fixing unit has a heating element incorporating a heater, a pressure roller composing the heater and the heating nip. The thermal fixing unit has a housing to enclose the above pressure roller keeping the above heating nip's side open, and water vapor cutoff members to stop the vapor at the input and output sides inside the housing.
