PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PTEF (polytetrafluoroethylene) resin composition affording a sliding member having excellent rub resistance and abrasion characteristics even for a housing composed of a metal, especially a hard metal subjected to quench hardening, etc., without carrying out polishing. SOLUTION: The PTFE resin composition is composed of 97-70 vol.% of PTFE and 3-30 vol.% of ceramic powder or ceramic fibers. In the PTFE resin composition, the PTFE resin is filled with ceramics harder than metal to thereby provide the sliding member with actions for polishing the opponent material housing molded therefrom. Ridges of the roughness of mating material housing can be reduced by repeating sliding. The self-abrasion is resultantly reduced to improve the durability (abrasion resistance) of a seal ring made of the resin. Thereby, the resin composition produces effects as follows.
