BLEND OF GELLAN GUM, PLASTICIZER WITH GELLING STARCH AND NON-GELLING STARCH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material to be a substitute for gelatin present in a soft capsule. SOLUTION: This blend comprises gelling starch and non-gelling starch with gellan gum and a plasticizer having similar characteristics in aspects of textural and functional properties as compared with those of gelatin. A film prepared by using the blend has excellent strength and elongation. The blend can similarly be used even for preparing a capsule without using heat.
