PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of drying and solidifying, thoroughly in a short time, a silica coat applied to the body of a car and equipment for the method. SOLUTION: The drying and solidifying method comprises applying a silica coating agent to the body 2 of a car and blowing wet steam S onto a silica coat C formed by wiping to dry and solidify the silica coat. Drying and solidifying equipment has a wet steam discharging device 20 which is arranged inside the booth 10 housing a car and blows high-temperature wet steam S onto a silica coat C applied to the body 2 of a car to dry and solidify the silica coat.
