Provided are (1) a control method for the safety start of a shot handling apparatus, a shot handling apparatus using the control method, and a control program on the safety start of the apparatus, (2) a control method for improving the operation of the shot handling apparatus, a shot handling apparatus using the control method, and a control program for the improvement in the operation of the apparatus, and (3) a control method for preventing the fire of a dust collector to collect the dust exhausted from the shot handling apparatus, a shot handling apparatus using the control method, and a control program for preventing the fire of a dust collector connected to the apparatus. Also provided is a safety start method for the shot handling apparatus having a control panel to operate the run. The safety start method comprises the step of displaying a predetermined safety confirmation item and a select key on the screen of a touch panel of the control panel, at the time of starting the run, the step of operating the select key suited for the safety conformation item, the step of deciding it, after the operation of the select key for the predetermined safety confirmation item was completed, whether or not the safety at the run starting time is confirmed, and the step of switching the screen of the touch panel to a predetermined screen on the basis of the decision result.
