An apparatus for preventing damage to a door for a vehicle is provided to allow a checker to perform a door opening safety function when the vehicle is started even though the door is not completely closed. An apparatus for preventing damage to a door for a vehicle includes a stopper, a door checker housing, a checker stopper, a rotation bearing(38), a fixing rotation support, a vicinity sensor, and a touch sensor. The stopper is installed in the door. A plurality of guide holes are formed in the stopper. The door checker housing is installed on one side of the stopper. The checker stopper is installed in the housing. The rotation bearing is installed at the front end of the checker stopper. The fixing rotation support is installed at one end of the stopper. The vicinity sensor is installed in the door to determine existence of an external object. The touch sensor is installed on one side of a knob of the door.
