An apparatus (12) for enhancing the fuel efficiency of an internal combustio n engine (10) includes a generally conical-shaped member (46) positioned in a gas flow generated by the engine (10). One or more deformations, such as tab s (52a-c) and notches (48a-c), are formed in the conical member to alter one o r more characteristics, such as pressure and velocity, of the gas flow. The apparatus (12) may be positioned in the air intake system. Alternatively, th e apparatus (12) may be positioned in the exhaust system. |
