The vehicle (1) has a lifting device (10) changing direction of a longitudinal axis (9) of a rotor blade (6). The blade is arranged on a support unit (4), such that the vehicle is arranged over its entire length below the blade. A centroid (S) of the blade is positioned in an area of a wheel base after the arrangement of the blade on the unit. A rotary device (8) rotatably supports the unit on the vehicle to change a horizontal direction of the axis, so that the blade is arranged for adaptation to blade infrastructure by the lifting and/or rotary device. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a support unit for transporting large volume components with excess length (2) a method of transporting large volume components with excess length.
