Apparatus and method to unwind a web material

The device has an unwinding position, on which the web material is unwound on the corresponding diameter of winding roll (1) by two drive units. Both the drive units are formed by a motor in connection with a control gear (8), which has two gear reductions. The two drive units of a main drive are formed with a high torque and a drive with a high number of revolutions. An independent claim is also included for a method for a unwinding a web material, particularly a paper or cardboard web, from a winding roll, particularly for interface cutting in longitudinal direction and for winding on a number of adjacent shipping tubes.
