A method for transmitting a short message to a plurality of mobile terminals is provided to send an identical short message to plural mobile terminals at a time by using a multimedia message containing a phone number list for receiving mobile terminals and a short message. If the user of a calling mobile terminal inputs a message through the user interface, the calling mobile terminal judges whether the inputted message is a short message(S20,S22). If it is confirmed that the inputted message is a short message, the calling mobile terminal judges whether a phone number list for a plurality of receiving mobile terminals, inputted through the user interface by the user, exist(S24). If so, the calling mobile terminal creates a multimedia message containing the phone number list(S26). Then the calling mobile terminal transmits the created multimedia message to an MMS(Multimedia Message Service) server(S28).
