An MAC(Medium Access Control) method of a wireless access network and a device thereof are provided to allocate priority to an AP(Access Point) instead of a terminal, and to control the number of times the priority is allocated, thereby adjusting a ratio of the uplink and downlink quantities of packet transmission between the terminal and a basis network device. Packet transmission frequency, reception frequency, and a comparison value calculated by predetermined rules from the packet transmission frequency and the reception frequency of a basis network device are initialized(501,503). Packets are transmitted by using different medium access IFSs(Inter Frame Spaces) according to the comparison value(505-509). The packet transmission frequency, the reception frequency, and the comparison value of the basis network device are counted(513). The network device stores transceived packet information in an AP(519). It is decided whether transceiving time of the packets is prior to reference time(521). If so, it is decided whether a destination MAC address of the packets refers to the network device(523). The packet transmission frequency and the reception frequency are counted according to predetermined rules based on the decided transceiving time and the destination MAC address(527). Information of packets whose transceiving time is prior to the reference time is deleted from the network device(529).
