An English alphabet input device of a mobile communication terminal is provided to analyze a character string corresponding to a common part of configured words of the English alphabet, so as to provide a UI(User Interface) capable of performing an intuitive inputting action as if characters are written, thereby improving deterioration of character input speed caused when the same button is overlappingly inputted. A character corresponding to a common part of configured words of the English alphabet is analyzed into various symbols and words on a keypad of a mobile communication terminal, and the analyzed characters are allocated to each function key. When the function keys are inputted, the characters allocated to each function key are sequentially combined so that the English alphabet can be displayed. For example, the character allocating '1', or '1'+'4' makes 'A', and '2'+'3' makes 'D'.
